Yes, while I was on my twisted path searching for Truth, now many decades ago, I was, for a few years, a Unitarian-Universalist minister. My search ultimately led me right back where I started, in one sense – the Catholic Church! I did not know it at the time, but the fullness of holy, divine Truth has been entrusted to this one Holy Catholic Church.
My story, my journey, caught the interest of Marcus Grodi who happened to be in the Alabama EWTN studio for a taping of a program for his ministry The Coming Home Network. My book – one might say a first fruit of my return home to the Church – “The Ordinary Path to Holiness” – was sitting on the desk there of Doug Keck (if I’m remembering the story correctly, now years later). Unbeknown to me, a candidate in formation for certification as a Lay Minister in the Norwich (CT) Diocese, where I was working and using my book for lay formation in Catholic spirituality, sent his copy to EWTN with the thought that they might want to see it. Well, they did and so did Marcus. One thing led to another, and Marcus invited me to share my story on a future episode of “Coming Home;” Doug Keck invited me to come down for his Bookmark series!
Needless to say, I was stunned when – with no knowledge that any of this was going on with my book – EWTN called me to invite me to the two programs.
